If this is your first time monument buying experience, feel comforted that we have assisted thousands of Central Florida families create the perfect lasting memorial for their loved ones. We would like to share our answers to the most frequently asked questions that arise during the process. Please call if your question isn’t answered below.

WHAT SHOULD I PUT ON MY HEADSTONE?

Aside from the basic name and date information, there is no hard and fast answer to that question. Some families like simple layouts, others prefer a complex layout to tell a life story. There is no “correct” presentation, only what feels right to you.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE BASE PRICE OF MY GRANITE HEADSTONE?

The base price includes full sandblasting of your gray granite headstone with names, dates, any emblems of your choosing, black lithochorme to insure high visibility, and installation on a concrete foundation.

Extra charges would be made for additional lettering for an epitaph at $2.00 per character, vases, complex shapes, out of area delivery, and sales tax

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE BASE PRICE OF MY BRONZE MARKER?

The base price includes the cast bronze plaque with names, dates, one or two emblems and up to a four word epitaph depending on the model chosen. Also included is the mounting of the plaque to a 4 inch thick granite base and installation on the grave space.

Extra charges would be made for additional wording, vases, out of area delivery, and sales tax.

IS THERE A GUARANTEE COVERING MY HEADSTONE?

Absolutely. We certify that Stokes Monuments will replace without charge any Stokes Monuments granite or bronze headstone should it crack or break due to normal wear and tear. We also guarantee that the headstone will not sink or become unlevel. However, Stokes Monuments is not responsible under any circumstances for any damage or staining caused by others, accumulated dirt or other material coming into contact with the headstone or their negative effects. Likewise, harm to the headstone resulting from vandalism, theft, war, flood, or other acts of God, environmental or atmospheric conditions, or the act or omission of any party, including the purchaser, is not covered by this warranty.

WHERE WILL MY GRANITE HEADSTONE BE MANUFACTURED?

Our headstones are manufactured by Century Granite Company, one of the foremost graniteers in Elberton, Ga., often referred to as “the granite capital of the world.”

Working from your order and sketch, Century’s team of customer service reps, draftsmen, quarrymen, and sandblasters will use the finest methods available to ensure that your headstone is the highest quality monument produced in the country. After an intensive final inspection, the headstone is shipped to us using their private fleet of specialized cargo carriers.

WHERE WILL MY BRONZE MARKER BE MANUFACTURED?

Our bronzes are manufactured by Matthews International Corporation, the foremost maker of cast bronze products in the world.

Working from your order and sketch, Matthews’ team of customer service reps, draftsmen, and production staff will use the finest methods available to ensure that your headstone is the highest quality monument produced in the country. After an intensive final inspection, the headstone is shipped to us by FedEx.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO INSTALL MY HEADSTONE?

Generally, your custom-built granite headstone will be installed within 6 to 12 weeks after your final approval of production drawings (4 to 6 weeks for bronze markers.)

HOW DO YOU WORK WITH MY CEMETERY?

We will coordinate all details with the cemetery, submit required permits, request mark-off of the grave space, and schedule installation of your headstone upon receipt.

WE HAVE A HEADSTONE THAT WE WANT TO COPY – CAN YOU DUPLICATE IT?

Whether you want to copy a family member’s headstone or one you may have noticed at a cemetery, we can duplicate the size, shape and design for you. We will be happy to visit the local cemetery, take photos, record dimensions, and make a rubbing (tracing) of the headstone at no additional cost to you.
